Remember those possible names floating around for Cleveland’s WNBA team last fall?
Well, several of them have now surfaced in federal trademark filings.
An attorney with the Cleveland-based law firm Benesch Friedlander Coplan & Aronoff LLP on Friday, May 15, filed a series of federal trademark applications on behalf of an organization called CLE Travel Sports LLC.
The applications seek to secure rights to several names previously linked to Cleveland’s expansion WNBA franchise, including Cleveland Sirens, Cleveland Novas, Cleveland Riveters, Cleveland Crown and Cleveland Founders. The team will begin play in 2028.
