Hey all,

just wanted to sanity-check something with other Mac admins / power users.

We’re seeing a really annoying issue on a few Macs running macOS 26.1 (Tahoe) with Admin By Request installed.

These are the symptoms:

  • You’re typing in Outlook / Teams / Brave / Slack / Notion / Asana / Excel…
  • Every now and then the input focus just dies. No error, no popup, nothing.
  • You have to click back into the window to continue typing.

Same hardware, same users, previously fine on Sonoma / Sequoia. No big changes on our side except the OS version + ABR.

There’s an Apple discussion that looks very close to what we’re seeing (SecurityAgent / authorization stuff on 26.x), and A

one of my user noticed me that she can't save a .conf file "mosquitto.conf" in this directory : "C:\Program Files\mosquitto" even with the temporary admin session i tired pre approuve cmd pre approuve vscode on top of that temporary admin session but nothing changed, i also tried to save it directly from the block not and apparently ABR simply block any file modifiction in this directory even with temporary admin right for no apprent reason

I have attempted to setup the Teams Integration as per https://docs.adminbyrequest.com/integrations/teams/overview-v2.htm but when I get to Step 4 I honestly cannot find where to paste the copied API key.

I have can see in this YouTube video https://youtu.be/AuVzsTqnJfg where he gets a pop-up asking for the API key but this appears to be for version 1 - I don't see any of this in version 2.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Cheers, Tim

My supervisor and I recently noticed that we’re unable to log in to the ABR app using Microsoft 365. We were previously able to sign in without any issues, and our peers are currently logged in. However, whenever we attempt to sign in on any device, the OAuth window allows us to sign in, but once it disappears, it loads indefinitely and eventually returns a request timeout error.

If anyone has any suggestions, that would be incredible!

Good day, our company uses a licensed version of ABR. It normally works perfectly, but we are having issues on a few virtual W365 devices where the application is installed, but we can't search for it nor does it pop up when we runas admin. Any suggestions or advice?

Hello all, 👋

Last few post here have been great and we at Admin by Request appreciate you and the community that we built here.

I quick introduction my name is David and I am apart of the Admin by Request support team, and I am here to provide brief support and provide general information relevant to Support.

Speaking of which... The point of the Post. Many customers might not know, but 8.6. was released; and it's one of the most stable builds yet! Issues with Hybrid SupportAssist? Fixed. Issues with Task Manager? Resolved. There are plenty of other minor fixes as well.

We focused in with this update to clean up and overhaul the internal interworkings of Admin by Request. So give it

Guys, what is this: "C:\Program Files (x86)\FastTrack Software\Admin By Request\BrowserExtension.exe"

Our security vendor flagged this as malicious.

It doesn't show up in the directories of other devices where we've installed AdminByRequest.

I'm having constant issues where sudo commands are getting terminated and returning errors. I typically first request admin access via the AbR in the notification area, then run sudo commands in the terminal.

So I've been testing ABR for around 4 months now, mainly on three machines with active users (including me). We planned to roll out ABR for over 350 user endpoints.

However I notice many cases where it's a real PITA to administrate and use.

  1. On several occasions I get UAC prompts which do not get intercepted by ABR so my user is never elevated. A recent example, updating the WSL through wsl.exe --update, which downloads an MSI and runs it. Even though I configured a pre-approval for wsl*.msi files with the appropriate Microsoft Vendor certificate, ABR does not care to elevate permissions. Only if I manually run the MSI installer.

  2. The administration portal only allows creating pre-ap
