AIS: Tracking boat transponders

r/AIS

A place to discuss AIS receivers. ------ Most yachts and large ships carry AIS transponders which continuously broadcast the name, location, and speed of their vessel to neighbouring vessels, to prevent collisions. You can build an inexpensive AIS receiver at home to record these broadcasts, map the ships in your area, and contribute to global shipping maps (eg: https://www.marinetraffic.com). ------ Join the AIS Discord ------https://discord.gg/5Yh4heX

This sub is dedicated to those who like tracking and mapping ships, boats, yachts and any other sort of marine vessel which broadcasts an AIS signal
