Intro

Wowaholics Anonymous helps those negatively affected by World of Warcraft addiction. Contribute by submitting the story of your WoW addiction, offering advice or consolation to others, or by openly discussing the benefits you've had from quiting WoW. Submit your story here.

Quit WoW

Share any problems you are having with quitting with us and we'll do our best to help.

Obtain a badge counter here - this link messages our badgebot; just fill in your quit date in the YYYY.MM.DD format after the jump. Please allow for ~1 hr after submission for your badge to appear. As you abstain from WoW longer, your streak of days of being WoW-free will grow. Badge counters work like AA medallions and Seinfeld's streak calendar. In Jerry's words:

"After a few days you'll have a chain. Just keep at it and the chain will grow longer every day. You'll like seeing that chain, especially when you get a few weeks under your belt. Your only job next is to not break the chain."

What is WoW Addiction?

We define WoW addiction as the inability to play WoW responsibly. Irresponsible gaming prevents you from fulfilling your personal goals and may damage the relationships you have with your friends and family. Responsible gaming entails limiting your gaming time as required in order to allow for completion of your life's duties and obligations. The duration of time in which one can game responsibly will vary individual to individual.

To be clear, we are not making the claim that everyone who plays WoW is engaging in unhealthy behavior. We are not "anti-WoW" or "anti-gaming"; in fact several of us may still play WoW. Our aim here is to help those who have been negatively affected by WoW addiction and to encourage responsible gaming.
