Old Conspiracy

r/oldconspiracy

For those who miss the old days of the conspiracy. Ancient archaeology, ancient history, geopolitical theory, discussions of the big picture, economics, world strategists, and cover-ups. Please provide your analysis, data, and share your stories! It's better when we learn together. Quality over quantity: this is meant to be the anti-thesis to the Pizzagate and the Wayfair conspiracy. Make this about your voice and your theories.

1. Twitter text posts, 4chan posts, and social media posts are not allowed as primary submissions. Please use self-posts and a compilation of multiple sources to develop your evidence and narratives. Use self-posts for these discussion. Videos are always welcome. Twitter posts with data should be converted to a Reddit-friendly format and provide a source to the data.

2. NO SCREENSHOTS. As replies, they're OK. Why? Conspiracy theories cannot be discussed in 280 characters. Feel free to use them as supporting evidence in post replies and mega-threads.

3. No submissions political memes with text. In-text memes & political cartoons are always welcome.

4a. (Guideline) Do not rely on data from sketchy sources including Twitter feeds or 4chan. If you'd like to source data, Go wild if you're debunking.

4b. (Guideline) Please consider quality of the data which you are posting.

5. No usage of obscure .me, .ru, .info and other fringe websites for political discussion as these are likely astroturfing. That doesn't mean the data is bad. Please try to use these sources to find other supporting claims.

6. Keep the political slogans and catchphrases to a minimum. Usage in a post is perfectly acceptable, but quality-less replies are nothing more than an echo chamber. Substantiate your claims and then you can mudsling if you please.

7. No ideological identity attacking - but feel free to attack ideologies. Feel free to point out biases. "User is a stupid Democrat" or "User is a clueless Republican" doesn't bring forth constructivity. Constructive critique of biases is welcome with an explanation.

8. No harassment, bigotry, racism, targeted attacks on users, or accusation of shill-ary (use the report button if you suspect a troll-farm). If a user believes a reply or post is racist, that is perfectly welcome.

9. No caps usage in post titles. Please don't twist words from the article headlines. Align post with article. Self-posts are up to user. No usage of CAPS except for acronyms (DOA) and punctuations (For instance: "This is my post.") No "BREAKING," "OMG," "PROOF," "EVIDENCE," "SHOCKING."

10. Formatting of posts is welcome, but please refrain from using the header tag. Post which abuse syntax will be taken down with an explanation and a kind request to re-post with a fixed title.

11. A glossary of questionable post title words will be developed as we go. The point of this is to prevent astro-turfers from using sensationalized words. If the articles headline includes these words, it is OK.

12. Quality discussions of social media censorship are welcome. Screenshots of a post being removed from Twitter or another subreddit is not quality discussion. Discussion of ad-revenue and mass demonetizing would be considered quality. Keep it to theory and verified instances.

13. Self-posts should contain an analysis, data, or a beautiful writeup. Spirituality posts are highly encouraged and welcome. Obvious, quality circle jerks are always welcome.
