How much of your privacy are you giving up for AI convenience?

most of us type things into chatgpt or claude that we would never post anywhere else. health worries, then your money or debt problems or even your arguments with your spouse, workmate, boss, or siblings. also stuff about work or contracts we're not supposed to share.

all of that gets stored on their servers. most of them use your data for training. most keep it for months. i think 99% of people never read the policy, so they don't know either way.

that didn't matter much when ai was a novelty. since 2023, people have been using ai for advice, and the questions have gotten more personal. my friends and even my spouse dont say "i'll search it on google" anymore since chatgpt launched. what i hear now is "i'll ask chatgpt" or "i'll ask ai."

same goes for the images and videos we generate using frontier models. if you're making mockups for a product you haven't launched or concept art for something you're still pitching, these companies shouldn't be keeping that either.

i work at dreamfort.ai. all chats stay in my browser instead of on a server, and image and video generation work the same way, so there are no logs and no user profiles. i noticed i use it differently than the other tools. i ask things i'd never type into a company account, and i don't second-guess what i'm generating.

would you ask an ai more personal questions if you knew nothing was logged and being used to train their models? i mean you dont use these ai they actually use you.

does it bother you that a company could read your chats or see what you generated, even if they say they don't?

have you ever held back from generating something because you didn't know where it would end up?

would you accept slightly worse answers in exchange for privacy?

or is this just not something you think about?

curious what the rest of you do.
