Survival & Sanitation Guide for Hexagon 12
Living in a hexagon doesn’t mean you can live like pigs. The following rules are to be observed by all scholars, residents*,* and transients in Hexagon 12 ... effective immediately:
Laundry Day Guidelines:
Friday is laundry day. Laundry soap will be provided. Hand-scrub your clothes on a washboard, wring them out, and hang them over the stairwell to dry. No one is allowed to run around the stairwells in their skivies on Saturday morning. Wear clean pants or stay in your closet.
~Lounging in the Corridors:
No loafing or lolly-gagging in the hallways with your hands in pockets, looking spaced-out or murmuring about “the ultimate meaning.” If you have time to loaf, then you have time to sweep!
~Quiet Hours & Pacing:
Floorboards groan. If you’re going to walk in circles and wrestle with your existential dread, do it silently, in wool socks, and be finished by 9:00 PM.
~Personal/Closet Hygiene:
“Cleanliness is next to Godliness. If you leave a "foul aura" behind you, or your quarters smell like an unwashed gym locker room or unkempt teenage bedroom, you will be led to the washbasin with a bar of lye soap and sleep in the stairwell till both pass inspection!
~ Shared Spaces
The multipurpose alcove next to Hexagon 402 serves as a cafeteria for meals, coffee, and official church potlucks and gatherings. Eat and converse politely but clean up after yourselves--napping, avoiding sorting duties, and leaving trash behind are prohibited and will be dealt with!
Please note:
Additional rules or guidelines will be posted regarding mail/correspondence, shared bathroom/latrines, personal belongings, noise violations, and general behavior in the stacks.
