Realistically: how long before you go solo

I’m a good technician, but only worked in espresso and biomedical. Solid skills and fault finding abilities. Sick of working for other people and keen to run an appliance van.

How much time working for someone else do you think it takes to learn the patterns of domestic appliances - getting an idea of parts to keep in stock, how to prioritize jobs, find work, etc

The skills are there just not the knowledge
