2/ The Beginning
The first time Nick and I saw each other after he went no contact was during a group weekend trip to see a concert. We were staying in separate rooms, and seeing him again was awkward but I didn't push anything, just gave him as much distance as I could in the scenario.
He pursued me. He closed the distance between us during the trip. He initiated sex with me.
I. was. thrilled.
Forgiveness and a second chance?! Hallelujah! We started our daily texts back up. Things between us were vague, but I fell right back into the safety I felt before our disconnection. I had fun when we talked and since he moved an hour away and got a job with demanding hours, the effort that he made to respond to me meant all the more to me. 2 and a half months of straight texting go by before I finally had the courage to ask him out on a date. A few days later he asked me to be his girlfriend, and so our commitment to each other began, technically and everything.
I remember us telling each other that we saw similar traits in each other as our own parents. I told him he reminded me of my mom in some ways and he told me I reminded him of his dad. Looking back now, I see that he was having a thrilling time getting someone as rambunctious and rebellious as his dad to be enamored with him, while I was having a thrilling time experiencing someone as logical and emotionally detached as my mom showering me with reassurance.
It was a perfect match, given the ways each of us were emotionally wounded.
