[Review] I Finally Learned How to Properly Deshed My Cats. Sharing What Actually Works
So I finally learned how to properly deshed my cats after YEARS of doing it wrong and omg I feel like I unlocked a cheat code.
Sharing in case anyone else is tired of vacuuming twice a day. What I learned:
- The trick isn’t to brush harder, it’s to brush slower and follow the direction of hair growth. I used to rake through like I was trying to uncover dinosaur fossils lol, turns out gentle, slow strokes pull out way more loose undercoat.
- Work in sections. I used to just swipe randomly, but going head to shoulders to sides to belly to back legs gets everything without annoying them.
- Frequency matters more than force. Daily 5-7 mins beats one aggressive weekly session.
- Wipe down after with a slightly damp microfiber cloth because it catches that last annoying layer of static fluff.
- Treats during grooming = 80% fewer dramatic performances.
Tools matter WAY more than I expected. I always thought a brush was a brush but certain ones just don’t get the undercoat. I ended up switching to this deshedding tool and it made an immediate difference ( aumuca Pet Deshedding if anyone’s curious looks super basic but the stainless steel edge works well ).
My cats actually purr through grooming now andd my apartment doesn’t look like a tumbleweed ecosystem anymore.
