The Big Story of the Bible

The Bible is One Big Story that can be divided into 6 parts.

1. Creation

God created the universe and everything in it, earth, animals, humans, everything. This is described in Genesis chapters 1 and 2.

God called His work very good, one example of this is in Genesis 1:31

2. Fall

Adam and Eve, the first humans, rebelled against God and did the only thing He told them not to do.

They ruined God's perfect creation. Genesis 3:11

On the bright side, God promised a perfect savior in Genesis 3:15.

3. Israel

God chooses Abraham's descendants as the group of people of which the promised savior would come. Genesis 12:2-3 and Genesis 12 - Malachi

The law, God's commandments, given to Moses prepared the way for savior of the world.

4. Jesus

Jesus is the promised savior foretold in the Old Testament. Matthew 5:17, John 1:17, and Romans 10:4 show this.

The Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, tell about his life, death, and resurrection.

5. Church

After Jesus' death and resurrection, God the Holy Spirit established the Church, most of the New Testament, Acts - Revelation, gives instructions about how those in the Church should live.

This stage will end at the second coming of Jesus Christ. We are currently living in this stage.

6. Restoration

This stage will begin with the general resurrection at the second coming of Christ and will last forever.

God will bring all of Heaven and Earth under Christ. Ephesians 1:10

Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess the Jesus is Lord. Philippians 2:10-11

There will be a New Heaven and a New Earth. Revelation 21:1-2
