The "SLOAN" notation is far too reductive and misleading. This needs to stop.
The five factor model isn't supposed to be a dichotomized typology, and reducing it to such is precisely the opposite of helpful. Somebody in the 10th percentile of a trait shouldn't be lumped in with someone in the 49th percentile, and someone in the 51st percentile shouldn't be lumped in with somebody in the 90th percentile. The differences in those ranges are absolutely massive, and using this kind of notation omits so much necessary information that it almost entirely negates the psychometric utility of the model. It would be wise to stop promoting such nonsense, as it only causes people more difficulty in grasping the theory and conveying any useful information through it.
