Should you cancel or drop out of a rainy craft fair?

Generally, no. Unless the promoter officially cancels the event or there is a severe safety risk (like lightning or extreme wind), you should show up.
Here's why: Rainy days weed out the "window shoppers" and tourists. The people who actually show up to an outdoor market in the rain are serious buyers. They braved the weather because they intend to spend money. Plus, if half the vendors don't show up, you have less competition.

Here is how to protect your inventory and keep making money:
🛠️ The Essential Gear
• Heavy Weights: At least 40lbs per leg. Sidewalls turn your tent into a sail; don’t let it take flight!
• Ground Tarps: Lay these down first to keep your boxes and feet out of the mud.
• Plastic Totes: Ditch cardboard for weather-sealed bins to keep inventory 100% dry during load-in.
• Clear Drop Cloths: Keep these handy to cover tables quickly so customers can still see your work.
💰 How to Sell in the Rain
• Create a Haven: Zip up three walls to create a dry, cozy oasis. Customers will linger longer just to stay out of the wet.
• Stay Upbeat: Your energy is contagious. Smile, play some music, and thank shoppers for braving the weather.
• Offer Incentives: Run a "Rainy Day Special" to reward the customers who showed up.

💡 Pro-Tip: Zip up 3 walls to create a cozy haven. Customers will linger longer to stay dry, giving you more time to sell!

The Bottom Line: Unless it's a safety risk, show up! Less competition and highly motivated buyers often lead to a surprisingly profitable day.
