What's your small firm actually doing about the gINT sunset?

Bentley's keeping gINT on life support through 2028, but "extended support" isn't a roadmap — it's a countdown. If you're a small shop (1–50 people), the options on the table all seem to come with a catch:

  • Stay on gINT until it breaks. Works until it doesn't, and you're migrating under pressure instead of on your own schedule.
  • Move to OpenGround / enterprise tools. Capable, but priced and scoped for the big firms. Per-seat pricing adds up fast for a 10-person office.
  • Go back to Excel + Word templates. What a lot of firms quietly already do. Cheap, but you're hand-assembling logs and re-keying field data.

What I keep hearing from small-firm folks is that the migration itself is the scary part — years of project data, custom log templates, lab data formats, all locked in a tool that's winding down.

So, genuinely asking the people who do this work:

  1. How many years of gINT data are you sitting on?
  2. Is anyone actively planning a migration, or is it "deal with it in 2027"?
  3. For those who've looked at the alternatives — what made you walk away from them?

(Full disclosure: I'm building BoreholeIQ specifically for the small firms this leaves behind, so I have a horse in this race. But the questions are real — the more I understand what's actually keeping people on gINT, the better. Not here to pitch.)
