YouTube 4K Upload Settings Explained Why My Videos Looked Blurry Before
I used to think my camera was the problem because every time I uploaded a 4K video to YouTube it looked kinda soft. The original file on my PC looked super sharp, but YouTube turned it into mush for the first few hours. It drove me nuts.
After digging around, I realized I was making a few rookie mistakes. I was exporting with a low bitrate and uploading right after finishing the edit without checking the export settings. I also kept watching the video before YouTube finished processing the higher quality versions.
Now I export in 4K using H.264 or H.265 with a decent bitrate, make sure the frame rate matches what I filmed, and let YouTube fully process the upload before judging the quality. That last part made a bigger difference than I expected.
One more thing I noticed is that a stable internet connection during upload helps avoid weird issues. If the upload gets interrupted, I usually start it again instead of hoping it fixes itself.
If your videos look blurry after uploading, don't panic right away. Check your export settings first, then give YouTube some time to finish processing the 4K version. Mine usually looks way better after that.
Hope this saves somebody else a few hours of frustration.
