Spider solitaire
I've been playing spider solitaire for a few weeks now (mostly to kill time at work lol) and as a total beginner, I used to lose literally every single game. but after messing around for a bit, I finally started figuring out a few basic tricks that actually helped me win way more often.
if you're just starting out too, here are the main things that helped me get past that initial wall:
- focus on one suit first: if you're playing 2 or 4 suits, try to build sequences in the same suit whenever possible. mixing suits lets you clear space temporarily, but you can't move the whole stack around easily later.
- empty columns are absolute gold: this was a game changer for me. do whatever you can to clear out one entire column early on. having an empty spot lets you park annoying cards or move entire king-to-ace chains around to unblock hidden cards.
- uncover face-down cards ASAP: don't just make long chains for the sake of it. always prioritize moves that expose hidden cards. the more cards you can see, the more options you have
- don't rush the deal button: only draw new cards from the stock deck when you literally have zero useful moves left on the board. dealing new cards buries all your clean columns under random trash.
obviously I'm still nowhere near a pro and still make dumb mistakes haha, but sticking to these few basic steps made the game way more fun instead of just frustrating.
any other beginners struggling with this, or pros got any easy tips to add?
