Home mining is making a quiet comeback and most people haven't noticed
For the last few years, the narrative around mining has been dominated by industrial operations. Big farms, institutional players, publicly listed companies accumulating hashrate.
That story is real. But there's a parallel one happening at a much smaller scale.
Hobbyist mining grew noticeably through 2025. Cloud mining subscriptions from individual users were up over 20%. Reddit's crypto forums saw a 30% increase in mining-related discussions. None of this is making headlines, but it's a real shift.
Part of it is that the barrier to entry has changed. Next-gen ASICs are more accessible. Some regions have stable low-cost electricity. And people who got priced out of buying BTC at higher valuations are looking at alternatives.
Browser mining fits into this too — it's the lightest possible version of the same impulse. You want some exposure to the mining side of the ecosystem without committing to hardware, energy contracts, or significant upfront cost.
It's not the same thing as running an ASIC farm. But the motivation often rhymes.
Are you seeing more people in your circles talking about mining again?
Or does it still feel like a niche conversation compared to trading and holding?
