A real ransomware recovery story from one of our customers (Google Workspace)
Sharing this with the customer's permission because it's a more concrete illustration than the usual abstract "ransomware is bad" messaging.
A SaaS startup in Bengaluru had a ransomware incident that hit three departments overnight — Gmail and Drive across multiple teams. Because they had an independent backup running (via CyberLS, which I work on, disclosure), the entire workspace was rolled back to the state it was in the morning before the attack. No data lost, and the whole recovery happened within that day.
Their CTO's framing stuck with me: it paid for years of subscription cost in a single afternoon. That's basically the entire value proposition of backup in one sentence — it's not about daily convenience, it's about the one afternoon where it either works or it doesn't.
