Moving to Dahab?
Hello everyone!
I'm exploring the possibility of relocating to Dahab for at least a year for a job opportunity. I'm a 33-year-old single woman from Cairo, and I may be bringing my pet dog along. I'd really appreciate any insight into what long-term living in Dahab is like—especially from those who have made the move themselves.
Here are a few things I’d love to know more about:
- What’s the average monthly rent for a furnished 1–2-bedroom apartment in or near Asala?
- Is it necessary to have a car, or is getting around by bike or taxi sufficient?
- What’s a realistic monthly budget for a single person (including rent, food, transport, fun activities, etc.)?
- How safe is Dahab—especially for single women and at night?
- What’s the nightlife like (social events, live music, etc.)?
- What are some common challenges people face when living there long-term?
- How reliable is the internet, especially for working remotely?
- How easy is it to meet people or find community (locals or expats)?
- What’s the food scene like—restaurants, markets, grocery access, etc.?
- Are there accessible, trusted veterinary services available?
- What’s the situation with healthcare? Are there reliable clinics or hospitals nearby?
- Are there any seasonal changes that affect living conditions?
- Are there any other aspects that I should take into consideration or be aware of?
Thank you so much!
