Why I Use Real, Handwritten (“Penned”) Mail for Real Estate
From my experience, handwritten (or realistically handwritten) direct mail just works better than generic printed stuff. It feels personal. When someone sees something that looks like it was actually written by hand, they’re way more likely to open it and read it.
I’ve also noticed it builds trust faster. In real estate, people get flooded with postcards and ads all the time, so when I send something that feels real and personal, it stands out immediately. It doesn’t come across like mass marketing; it feels like I’m reaching out directly.
Another big advantage for me is the response rate. I tend to get more calls and replies compared to standard printed mailers. People are simply more curious and willing to engage when it feels one-to-one.
It also helps with targeting. When I send these to specific homeowners, it feels more intentional, not like I’m blasting thousands of random addresses.
Overall, I’ve found that “penned” mail makes my outreach more human, more noticeable, and more effective, especially in a crowded real estate market.
