[r/Gotham] Hot Take. Wayne is slowly killing a core aspect of Gotham culture. The seedy dive bar.

5 years ago, Wayne started a that whole “Follow Your Dream” fund to help small business owners get off the ground in Gotham. I don’t have much to say about it beyond the following. All these new bars and restaurants are popping up and they’re killing a Gotham staple.

Young Gothamites don’t get that the seedy dive bar is an institution. It’s place your dad takes you to get your first beer. Where you deal with the heart ache of your first break up. Where you get your first henching job. Where you’d hear up and coming underground artists.

Now that’s slowly going away in the name of “safety, “creating a friendly atmosphere” and “wanting nothing to do with both organized and unorganized crime”.

Narrow’s Bar recently got bought up after Big Stache took that dirt nap. You can’t organize jobs there anymore. They sell all these IPAs and other fancy shit instead of whatever Big had on tap. They have all these latte drinking hipsters playing guitar instead of playing country or hard rock on the loud speakers. They don’t even let you smoke there. Even the damn pool table was gone and replaced with a dance floor.

I went there to celebrate my son’s 16th. Shit you not, the bartender didn’t let my son drink even after I tried handing her a twenty.

In short, screw you Wayne for killing my favorite watering hole.
