In this episode, the idea of settling oneself into a bath of boba comes up. Well, let me share with you my memory lane.

The very first time I ever heard of boba was at the beginning of my sophomore year of college. My dorm was coming up with activities to convince the frosh that we were cool and they should live with us. Somebody's friend owned a boba shop nearby, and so the idea of boba wrestling came up. We spent many many hours in the kitchen cooking huge numbers of tapioca balls to fill a kiddie pool. Very few first-years actually showed up to our activity but we sure had a lot of fun. It did feel pretty good! And the showers were nearby.

Long time listener here. I’m Taiwanese and I come from Taichung. Matthew’s explanations of boba’s origins and the original meaning of “boba” were just awesome. I’ll say not every Taiwanese can recall these facts. Kudos to Matthew!!
