Are We Writing Smarter… or Just More Carefully?
I feel like AI in schools has changed how students write, and not in a good way. Instead of focusing on strong ideas and clear arguments, people are stressing about whether their work sounds too good. I know students who purposely use simpler words, shorter sentences, and awkward phrasing just to avoid being flagged by AI detectors. That is backwards. Education should push us to improve our writing, not make us afraid to sound polished. Academic honesty matters, of course, but constant fear of false accusations is creating anxiety and holding people back from actually developing their voice. Anyone else feeling this shift?
