Is Bob really helping productivity, or just making seniors the cleanup crew?
Curious if anyone else is seeing this.
Bob can help get a first draft or answer out faster, but it sometimes feels like people are relying on it without fully understanding or checking the result. When something is wrong, incomplete, or hits an edge case, it ends up with the senior people to fix.
At the same time, senior roles seem to be quietly shrinking—retirements not backfilled, higher-band roles disappearing, etc.
So Bob may make the first step faster, but is it really improving quality and total productivity? Or is it shifting more review, mentoring, and cleanup work to the remaining senior staff?
And if seniors spend their time covering that work, when do they get opportunities to do higher-level projects and grow?
Wondering if this is just my area or common across IBM/other tech companies.
