will istp give me a chance?

me (f entp) and the guy (istp) i’ve been talking to since forever finally talked about our relationship last night.

we’re currently college freshmen at different schools. we were talking about how busy our summers are and i made a joke asking how i’m supposed to ask him out with his schedule. his response was “idk if it’ll ever be logical.”

i asked him why and he said because we’d have to do long distance for 3 years and maybe more because he might go to grad school… but we’ve basically already been doing long distance for a year now and he’s already told me he’s had a lot of fun talking to me online and likes me a lot.

he also said maybe to a summer fling but said he gets attached easily and is scared.

i told him that i think it would suck more if we never gave it a shot with the amount of time we’ve put in already than it not working out because then at least we knew. he agreed to that, but told me that we don’t have to make a decision now and that if we did try we should expect for the worst, which i disagree with since online has worked for us since september.

i feel like he doesn’t understand that a LDR is basically the same as what we’ve been doing so far, and i’d be willing to visit his school and see him as much as possible. my major and schedule is very flexible.

i have a few questions for you istps:

does it seem like i like him more than he likes me? or is he just more scared?

what are the odds of him not giving me a chance if he keeps on not wanting to make a decision because he likes talking to me so much?

has long distance ever worked for you guys? what would i need to do to make it possible?

should i keep on trying? will he change his mind? he said he’s been thinking about this a lot.

should i be overthinking why he said he likes talking to me a lot instead of just saying he likes me? is he trying to downplay his feelings?

…

i’ve posted a bunch of times on here before, so for more background information you can look at those if needed.

thank you!!
