Rachel’s job at Vanity Fair

I still don’t understand something about Rachel. If I remember correctly, one day she was fired by Vanity Fair because of the 62k she owed to AmEx, but the next day she magically reappears with the article she wrote. Did I miss something? I’ve read online that AmEx (or her bank) erased the debt (irl) she had. But still, how did Vanity Fair forgive her? Did she offer them to write the article about Anna in return for letting her stay at VF? And how could’ve they known that it would blow up like that? Or did VF forgive her after they realized the trial against Anna will actually escalate? Thanks for any input on this. 😊
