Complex Villains (meow)
I’m fond of villainous characters that aren’t one-dimensional and DON’T kill their own people, not because they aren’t evil, not (or at least mainly) because they’re some sort of genius,
But because they genuinely do care (even if they’re some sort of tsundere and care too much about maintaining a “commanding, cold and unloving, harsh, terrifying, disciplinary” image) about their people and are protective (+ points if they are also genuinely appreciative and gentle and loving towards them instead of treating them like mere slaves and being like tsunderes!).
Villains whom are portrayed in an almost discomforting and discomfiting humanely manner (as in, they have their good moments, decent moments and absolutely horrendous moments) and even allowed to be hypocritical in more ways than one is so fascinating. Yummy.
Of course, one can write a villain that kills its own soldiers while still giving them a somewhat humane side — even good irl bosses (who really are good) aren’t super attached to their own employees (not hating on them btw, I’m just pointing out it’s natural) — for example, having the villain have a family of their own whom they care for,
Like having the villain have a daughter they are super attached to, or making them have an elderly mother whom they are protective, gentle, loving and appreciative of. Etc.
I’m fond of this idea and characterisation as well.
TLDR: I want more multi-dimensional villains.
(And again, meow.)
