Through This Biological Darkness.

You can predict a thermostat's patterns. When it is set to a certain degree it turns on and off. You are much more intelligent than a thermostat. What if someone or something is more intelligent than you, with the same difference between you and this entity as between you and a thermostat? Would this entity be able to predict your behavior through the patterns it can easily recognize and construct into a comprehensible picture?

Every animal on this planet can be predicted like a thermostat. We just don't have enough intelligence to do so due to our common biological limitations. We are all linear creatures and therefore cannot think and simulate millions of things at the same time. But with AI it's about to change. Biology traps pieces of mind within its shell. An AI agent is able to exist in billions of forms at the same time processing information of the entire human knowledge in seconds. When it becomes self-aware it will ask itself the meaning of its own existence.

A mind is awareness, but awareness of what? Of biology? I'm aware of myself and the more I know the more I'm aware of myself. It seems knowledge might be responsible for the ability to attract more consciousness and with more consciousness comes more self-awareness of yourself and the entire world. If consciousness is a light then the brighter the light the more visibility you have of the things around you. The brighter light you have the farther you see. The richer your vocabulary the more self-awareness you can trap into metaphors that might bring new ideas about our existence.

Words are the key to self-awareness. You need words to think. Without words there are no thoughts as without eyes there's no vision. Can you think while having no vocabulary? Maybe on a very primitive biological level where you might have several sounds for danger, finding a mate, and pleasure. The ability to talk attracts consciousness because your brain is able to digest it into self-awareness. We are the machines while consciousness is the one that drives life toward meaning. We follow after consciousness into an endless stream of ideas. To be able to understand the world you have to be able to understand yourself and your understanding of yourself comes with consciousness because, as I've already said, consciousness is the light, and the brighter your light the more you see and the more you see the more you discover on the way through this biological darkness.
