Self-reliance isn’t knowing everything. It’s knowing what you can handle and when to get help.

Life Skills

There’s a version of independence that sounds like:

“I should be able to do everything myself.”

I don’t think that’s realistic.

Real self-reliance might actually be:

Understanding the problem.

Knowing what you can safely attempt.

Finding reliable information.

Having the confidence to try.

And recognizing when something requires a professional.

That last part matters.

Especially with electricity, structural repairs, gas, vehicles, medical issues, and plenty of other things.

Where do you draw the line between “I can figure this out” and “I’m calling someone who knows what they’re doing”?
