Can’t figure out how to patch ROM NHL 94 with Adam C 2023 roster patch

Hi, new to ROM hacks and patching. Tried applying 2023 patch to NHL 94 ROM using Flip and it doesn’t allow me to select ROM. It does recognize patch though. Anyone who can walk me through it? I’d really appreciate it.
