Probation periods when moving up grades!

I have recently moved up a grade through an external competition but was wondering about probation period, once you move up from a grade- in this case EO2 to DP- does a new probation period automatically begin or does my numerous years of service in the civil service with no probation issues in the past cover it? Apologies if this is a daft question but it’s never struck me an issue until recently? I’m also assuming that the fact I was TPd into the role for over 2 years before officially getting the same role wouldn’t factor into anything!
