Claude Opus vs Sonnet vs Haiku, how do you actually pick?

With Anthropic’s lineup getting bigger (Opus 4.1, Sonnet 3.7, Haiku 3 & 3.5), I’ve been trying to figure out where each model really shines. Honestly, it feels less about raw benchmarks and more about vibe:

  • Opus 4.1 → Heavyweight. Amazing at reasoning, long context, research-style prompts. Downside: slower + expensive.
  • Sonnet 3.7 → Feels like the “balanced” one. Fast enough, creative, logical. Probably the most practical day-to-day.
  • Haiku (3 & 3.5) → The lightweight sprinter. Quick, cheap, fun for RP or casual queries, but won’t hold up on complex reasoning.

If you had to pick one model as your daily driver, which would it be?
I’m especially curious how people split between Sonnet and Opus — is the depth really worth the extra cost for most workflows?
