External mic for Nikon Z6 III?

I will be going to Japan and filming a video for myself that would be laid back and chill, with ambience voices recorded. Would the onboard microphone be enough or should I get an external microphone?

I was thinking about the Rode Videomicro II but I cant find info about it for ambience? It also seems a bit bulky which Im not a huge fan of. I don't have a big budget.

Any advice/suggestions?
