Exploring a Future Business Idea for Prince Rupert , Community Input Wanted

custom

Hi Rupert people šŸ¤

I was born & raised in Prince Rupert and I’m currently in Vancouver going to school for business/accounting. I’m Indigenous and I’ve always known that one day I’d love to bring something back home and build a long-term business in our community.

I’ve had a passion for fitness for years, especially yoga and Pilates, and I did complete a local yoga program in Rupert. Opening an affordable, welcoming studio is one idea I’ve thought about but I’m also very aware that starting a business has to make sense for the town.

I know we already have a handful of gyms, instructors so I’m honestly wondering if something like a dedicated reformer Pilates or yoga space would be supported long term… or if I’d go bankrupt 🤣

I’ve considered other ideas too even something like a bowling alley at one point but the startup costs versus profit potential can be intimidating and people have told me it wouldn’t be worth it because of cost . If I’m going to invest time and money into something, I want it to last. I don’t want to open something that comes and goes like many businesses do. I want to tailor it to what Rupert actually needs and would consistently support.

So I’m genuinely asking:

What kind of business do you think Rupert is missing?

What would you personally support long term?

Would you attend fitness classes if they were affordable and community focused?

I’d really appreciate honest feedback šŸ¤
