Thank You Project Ascension.

I’ve been a WoW fan since I was little (I started playing at 6 or 8 years old back when my dad used to play during TBC, I’m 22 now). I’ve always loved the music, the story/lord of the game, the art style, and the combat mechanics, but I’ve never been able to get past lvl 20 since when I did understand how to actually play the game instead of messing around, my dad stopped playing and I ended up with the trial version of the game.

I honestly pushed the trial version to its limits, trying everything single race and class combination, getting every single piece of armor, weapon, and items that I had access to, and trying to explore higher level zones like the Burning Steps. It was fun, but I always wanted to experience the joy of actually playing the game, of leveling up past level 20, doing new quests, dungeons, and even raids, learn new abilities, and get better gear. Shortly after BFA came out, I completely quit the game.

It hurt honestly, having to leave a franchise because of the story beginning to be shit, not being able to actually play the game, and having already done everything that could possibly do with the trial version of WoW. Since then, I’ve been jumping from one MMO to another, you name an MMO and I’d probably tried it out at some point. I was really desperate to find something that would feel similar to WoW and that would fill up the little emptiness it left behind. I ended up settling with Albion Online for a long time, it’s nothing like WoW, but it did its job of filling up that void a bit.

Then, last month, I found out about Project Ascension. I was super skeptical at first, I didn’t think it was real and was one of does scammy things that’ll give you a virus. But after doing some digging and finding videos and this subreddit, I decided to give it a try, and thank fucking Elune I did (eh? get it? Because Elune is the Goddess of the moon? ..Never mind-).

I genuinely cried, with every single new zone I’ve went to that I haven’t explored, with everything new item I equipped, with every new level, quest, and story, I cried. Once a dream I had since I was 8 or 9, came true at last, of course I was going to get emotional. I honestly stopped playing every other game I have and only been focusing on Project Ascension, it has become my main game and I’m enjoying every second of it.

But now, knowing that the happiness and joy that I’ve been having for less than a month now is just going to disappear and be ripped away from me once again, I feel that little void starting to form. I don’t know what I’m going to do or where I’ll go after the servers shut down, but one thing is certain, I’m going to keep playing the living fuck out of the game. I’m only 7 levels away from 60, so I still have a goal, and now I have motivation and a good ass reason to reach it. A my going to cry? Oh absolutely! A my going to be an emotional wreck for a week or two? Definitely!

But yeah, I’m not going to blame Blizzard for doing what they did. Even though they’ve fucked the whole WoW franchise in every aspect you can possibly think of, and part of me want them to jump of the highest building they can find, they had the right and legal reasons to sue and shut down Project Ascension.

I’m going to miss Project Ascension with all my heart, even if I’ve only been playing for a month. After it ends, I’ll probably go look for another private server and play that while waiting to see what the Project Ascension devs come up with.

Anyways, I don’t know what any of y’all will do after the servers shut down, but I wish every single one of you the best of luck in your journey and may Elune guide you.

-Sincerely, Storcez The Night Elf Venomancer.
