Are we being cruel to be kind?

My wife is in an episode where where she is being controlled via a quantum link that is making her do things she wouldn't normally do, that her reality.

We are doing everything in our power to avoid her having a Mental Health Assessment (MHA), which would lead to another section (UK specific).

The question I have is are we being cruel trying to keep her at home when would hospital be better for her?
