Rutgers' Master of Public Informatics Program
Everyone talks about AI changing the world. Far fewer people talk about who will be responsible for making sure those changes actually benefit society.
As a Rutgers undergraduate exploring AI and data science, I've become increasingly interested in a different question: how can these technologies improve people's lives?
That's what initially drew me to the field of Public Informatics.
The more I learn about AI, the more I realize that building powerful technology is only part of the equation. We also need people who can think about its impact on communities and how it's used responsibly.
What caught my attention about Rutgers' Master of Public Informatics program is that it seems to focus on exactly that. The program combines AI, data science, and analytics with a focus on solving real-world problems and creating positive public impact, while also offering concentrations that allow students to tailor the program to their interests.
If you're considering graduate programs and are interested in both technology and public impact, Rutgers' MPI program might be worth checking out. You can learn more about the program here: https://bloustein.rutgers.edu/graduate/public-informatics/
For anyone interested, Fall 2026 applications are currently open through July 1: https://go.rutgers.edu/Join-MPI
