Today Iran carried out a coordinated attack on both UAE soil and a UAE-affiliated vessel and a South Korean cargo ship

The Iranian regime is desperate and will do anything to stop the US from escorting ships through the Straight of Hormuz. Iran is sending a message to the US as they attack the UAE with missiles and drones despite the ceasefire. They are attempting to stop ships being escorted through the straight and trying to spike oil higher. Iran is trying to intimidate ships to think twice about being escorted across the straight by the US Navy.

Iran is trying to Intimidating Shipowners:

By launching missile and drone attacks on a UAE tanker and a South Korean cargo ship during the U.S. escort, Iran is signaling that U.S. protection cannot guarantee safety.

The U.S. military reported that two U.S.-flagged merchant vessels successfully transited the Strait of Hormuz. This is the first action under "Project Freedom," a new initiative launched by President Trump to reopen the strategic waterway and guide ships that have been stranded in the Persian Gulf since February.

The attacks on the UAE occurred during and immediately following the launch of the U.S. escort mission today, May 4, 2026. The attacks on the UAE occurred both during the initial announcement of the U.S. escort mission and have continued in multiple waves throughout the day.

US sinks 6 Iranian small fast boats as violence flares amid the so called ceasefire. U.S. Forces sank six Iranian small boats near the Strait of Hormuz amid President Donald Trump's "Project Freedom" on Monday.

U.S. Central Command announced the engagement in a press call with reporters, saying Iran's military capability has been "dramatically degraded."

CENTCOM Commander Adm. Brad Cooper said that Iran historically has deployed "between 20 and 40 small boats" when harassing vessels in the strait. "Today, we saw just six, and eliminated them quickly," Cooper said.

We could see the US resume combat operations this week and finish the job in Iran or things will continue to escalate and rattle markets and spiking oil. Good chance the US resumes combat operations this week or by the weekend.
