Is it me or is the game economy dead?

Most keep talk about preserving this economy, but there is no set value for anything, trade are in consistent one person could trade you a tier 1 vending machine for 400 red bronze, while someone else would give you the same vending machine for a couple crates of pineapple. lots of shops don't restock and the one that do are expensive (a million for a grass block?).
