Does the Roku Media Player auto enable subtitles?

Long story short: I want to know if the media player app on the Roku TV or Ultra respects your system level preferences for subtitles. As in, if I have subtitles set to be disabled, it will disable them by default.

May sound like a dumb question, but I recently bout a Hisense Vidaa tv and the media player on it didn't. It was VERY irritating.
