[Weekly Niche Ideas] Crocs Shoes

We’ve all heard of Crocs, and most of us probably own a pair as well. They are not exactly fashionable, but they are functional. In fact, there is a longstanding meme about how unappealing crocs are, and yet people still buy them. They are a product that has taken the world by storm because the design is simple, they’re extremely high-quality, and they’re very comfortable.

If you think about it, Crocs are the perfect private-label product. They are so simply made that they use one material, they can be easily mass-produced, they are durable, and they basically advertise themselves since the customer wears them in public.

Of course, this doesn’t really help us much, besides the fact that Crocs are a very Amazon-friendly product. Just how friendly? Let’s take a look at the numbers:

It turns out that this item sells extremely well on Amazon. Needless to say, this niche is preposterously competitive. Also, the niche is owned by a single brand. We can see that the revenue is astounding and that the average sales price is also great, as well as the margin. However, what is an Amazon seller to do in order to face a giant like this?

Think about it this way: Amazon is the biggest stage there is. If you come up with something that checks all the same boxes as Crocs that is maybe more fashionable, you’ll be able to advertise on those keywords and start slowly carving out a piece of this big cake. It’s an ambitious strategy, but not an inconceivable one.

Sometimes as you’re browsing Amazon looking for product ideas, you might overlook a decent niche. This is why we used the AMZScout PRO Extension to identify this niche. You can also do this yourself, and getting started is simple:

  1. Install the AMZScout PRO Extension and start your free trial.
  2. Start it on any Amazon page, and you’ll see all of the underlying information beneath the surface.
  3. You can also use the niche score that will give you the breakdown of any niche or page you are on in terms of how difficult it would be to enter it with a new offer.
  4. You can also see graphs for sales, and best-seller rank history for each product on the page, as well as the cumulative stats for the entire niche.
  5. Additionally, there is a “niche idea” button that will send you to a random Amazon page with a high niche score if you are struggling to get ideas.

Being an Amazon seller means selling on the biggest marketplace in the world. Those big brands that bring their products to Amazon are just other Amazon seller. They have the same amount of product photos as you have, and the same numbers of characters in their product descriptions.

This is an even playing field. Sure big brands may have more weight behind their names, but when your listing is standing next to theirs, they sure can seem a lot less intimidating. Good luck sellers!
