Does good mattress edge support actually make a queen feel bigger?

My partner and I share a queen and lately I've noticed we both kind of avoid the last few inches on either side. The middle still feels fine, but once one of us gets pushed toward the edge it dips enough that you start moving back in without really thinking about it. Makes the bed feel smaller than it should.

We're probably replacing it this year and Nectar is one I've been looking at. Edge support never used to be something I cared about, but now I'm wondering if a stronger perimeter actually gives you more usable space when two people are sharing the bed. I also don't want to end up with something super firm just to get better support around the sides.

If you bought a mattress with decent edge support, did you notice the difference while actually sleeping near the edge? And did it stay that way after a few months or soften up pretty fast?
