Alternate time regions question

Hi, I feel pretty dumb atm but how do ATRs work in TabKit? Entering them doesn't work the same way as I remember it working in TabIt, and the way it changes the tick marks for beats at the top makes it harder for me to understand.

Overall this is amazing, and all the work is seriously appreciated, if I could get a little more guidance on this feature I'd appreciate it!
