TeamCenter 13.1 to newer version upgrade / migration considerations

I took over TeamCenter management at my current employer (minimal experience using it) and was tasked with upgrading it to newer version (the business wants to start using newer NX which appears to only properly work with newer TC).

Our current setup is Oracle RDS (in AWS) + two Linux servers running the web components on one, and enterprise components on the other.

I'm looking to stand up staging environment first, and then use that to play around with the upgrade, and then roll out the upgrade on production.

Few questions for seasoned TC admins here -

  1. Linux vs Windows - which one is best for small scale TC deployment? (Windows license cost should not be a factor in making an argument against Windows). Can functionality such as Kerberos/SSO still be used if clients are Windows and the TC server is on Linux? (we currently don't have Kerberos enabled) I found reference architecture PDF on Siemens website, and there is a few quick deploy configs, with one of them being Windows/SecService/Kerberos, and no mention of Kerberos in Linux quick configs.

  2. If I were to migrate from Linux to Windows, any caveats?

  3. Is there an easy way to export data from current instance to import into a new instance if I wanted to do a fresh install with different architecture, rather than doing in place upgrade?

All insight is appreciated. Thank you!
