How to change your voice in a video (two ways, depending on what you actually need)

Hi, Im working with some screen tutorial stuff rn, so Ive ended up doing this for two totally different reasons. Sometimes I want an obviously altered voice for a funny commentary, and sometimes (honestly, most of the time) I just want my normal voice to sound less like a cheap mic in a noisy room. So before you go hunting for how to change your voice in a video, pick your lane:

Lane A: you want to sound like a different character (robot/deep/chipmunk/radio).
Use a voice-changer effect. Stuff like Voicemod (desktop) or the built-in voice effects in editors like CapCut or TikTok’s built-in app can get you there fast. Record your voice clean first (close to the mic, no clipping, as little echo as possible), then apply the effect. Voice changers sound 10x better that way.

Lane B: you want a better version of your regular voice.
This is just audio cleanup + a couple tweaks: reduce noise, a gentle touch of EQ, maybe a bit of compression, and youll sound way more “put together” without turning into a robot. I usually do this in Movavi Video Editor – helps me create good content fast, and it has AI noise removal + voice effects if I do want to push it into character territory.

The idea is the same whether youre searching how to change your voice in a video on iPhone or even via online tools – youre either going for a voice effect or youre polishing your real voice.
