Software bug: changing charge limit % ? (2023 C40 Recharge)
Is there a bug in Volvo EVs where changing the Charge Limit % doesn't always work immediately? I've seen this a few times now on AC charging. I have the limit set to, say, 70% and the car is charged to 70% and stops. Then I change the limit to 90%. But it doesn't start charging, at least not immediately. The center display says the new limit is 90 but the dash display still says 70 and full (not charging). Eventually it decides to start charging to the new limit and all is well.
There's a bunch of online discussions of other people saying they have a problem like this: one, two, three, four. Some of these threads are 2+ years old so apparently it's not a new problem.
I think it's an actual charge limit bug, not just the status display. Not only does the car say it's not charging but the charging unit's own monitoring shows no power being drawn. I've tried various things to fix it: unplugging the charger from the car, locking the car, powering the car off, rebooting the car center screen. None reliably get it charging. It does seem to fix itself after a few minutes though.
Not a huge deal if you're not changing charge limits often but it's annoying. And confusing. Just had to make an electrician hang around for awhile to test my new home charger install as I tried various tricks to convince the Volvo to start charging itself again.
