Father vs daughter
Ok. My parents retired and moved to Florida leaving me the house I grew up in. My fiance and I pay all the bills for this house. We have a friend living in our basement apartment that is paying us 1100 for everything included. Our mortgage is 1333 plus all utilities we pay around 2300-2400 a month in total. We have been putting the money from our friend away to use as needed mostly for big emergencies or unexpected things.
Ok. So side note my my mother is an alcoholic and I have set boundaries when my parents visit she can’t drink when she stays with us.
Sooo my dad says they want to come visit in October and stay in the house. I wasn’t to keen on in it. The last time they stayed my mom was sneaking booze and got knocked out drunk in front of my 9 year old. I told him I wasn’t comfortable with it. He claims if I won’t let them stay at the house I need to provide money from my friend downstairs aka our emergency money to provide them a hotel. Because I can’t dictate what they can’t do in their house.
Now I told him no that’s not your money that’s our emergency money. He claims and fights me that it’s his money. Mind you there are no leases set here for either my friend or me. We are paying for everything…and that money from the tenant is supposed to be for our emergencies. So my mom being able to get drunk in a hotel is an emergency? So it’s his money? So I can’t touch the emergency money anymore? Using the money to cover a bill when I can’t isn’t an emergency? Using the money for a down payment on a car I needed isn’t an emergency?
Who’s wrong?
