When did you realize taking time off was secretly frowned upon?

I have paid time off, but somehow using it feels like breaking an unwritten rule. People apologize for taking a day off, check emails while they’re on vacation and come back feeling like they need to explain where they were.

It’s strange being made to feel guilty for using a benefit you’re supposed to have.
