I hope it's not just me in saying that Fathom was a little bit of an underwhelming boss fight experience. She posed basically no unique threat at all as far as I could see. I know she forces Hawks to attack their companions, and empowers her fellow Coil, but if you focus in on her (which you should be doing), she dies before she can really show off anything new. For me, running Hawks, Kabb, Tel and Cly, it only took 5 tactical rounds to kill her, because I'd built the team around doing a lot of damage.

I understand I chose very powerful characters and I was playing in normal mode, so it ending so soon is because of me, but at the same time, the Typhon boss battle doesnt have these issues for me. Typhon was a very imposing threat, and the cuts away from the fight with evwry major cut into his health bar was really fun, and the many droids that surrounded you and punished you for attacking him made the fight feel very fun. It didnt last super long, since I also just focused on destroying him so no more droids would spawn, but it felt to me like his fight was much better pulled off.

I didn't hate the Fathom fight, I was actually quite satisfied with the way my team so easily broke her confidence and truly nailing a strategy in a game like this to the point where a bog threat is trivialised does feel great (take, for example, Baldur's Gate 3, where the game can be basically made into a one-shot simulator if you build your characters in a particular way)

I just thought she could have had a bit more health, had a greater effect on the other Coil than just slightly buffing them, and maybe a third phase. When she died I was for sure expecting some sort of third phase where the plague itself attacked you somehow, since it was mentioned by Tel that it was likely engineered by a force sensitive, so I would not be surprised in the universe of Star Wars if some phantom-like manifestation of the Coil's power and compulsion took form over her body. It was just a bit disappointing that after all that build up she felt quite easy.

I did adore this game though, and its characters, story moments, gameplay, cameos etc. all really engrossed me. I hope there's a DLC eventually that would shed some light on some post-story mysteries like where the plague actually came from, where the star destroyer disappeared to and also just some general storyline continuation, like maybe helping Luca with Rex and Trick on Umbara, or helping Tel find more force sensitives.

Just finished the game. Thoughts on the final mission.
