Not sure if this is something ACT can help with
Hi All,
Five months ago, on a beautiful day at the park with my 3 little kids, I noticed I wasn't enjoying myself. In hindsight, it makes sense since it can be stressful trying to play with 3 little kids and watching them etc. But for some reason, I started thinking that I actually don't enjoy anything except maybe eating, drinking, sex basically. This thought seemed to over take my life, and I just start noticing that nothing is actually making me happy, and I'm just kinda going through the motions, not enjoying things.
Before this realization, while I have dealt with real bad anxiety and some OCD, I wouldn't have ever said I'm depressed. Generally I thought of myself as quite happy, just troubled sometimes. Anyways, this thought eventually stopped and I enjoyed life for the most part.
Then about 2 months ago, this thought came back again, but it really just won't go away. On paper, my life is perfect. I have a home, great job, great wife, perfect kids, some friends. But I no longer have some massive thing that I am working towards. It's almost like now I realize life is somewhat pointless?
All of this is to say that, when I'm not in my head, I do enjoy life. So I don't know if I am like clinically depressed, or if its just this damn thought, sucking me out of life. Wondering if anyone here has experienced something similar, and if ACT allowed this to eventually work itself out, so that you basically don't care if you aren't enjoying yourself in those rare times that the thought comes up.
Thanks so much for any feedback
